Acceptance of these terms
By loading or using any page on FormatFixer, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. We may update these terms from time to time — the date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision, and continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
What the service is
FormatFixer provides free, in-browser file conversion tools. Every conversion runs locally inside your own web browser on your own device — we do not receive, store, or process the files you convert. See our Privacy Policy for the technical detail.
The service requires a modern web browser with JavaScript enabled. Some converters (audio, video) additionally require WebAssembly support, which is standard in browsers released since 2017.
Acceptable use
You may use FormatFixer to convert any file you have the legal right to process. This includes files you created, files licensed to you, and files in the public domain. You may not use FormatFixer to convert files in ways that infringe someone else's copyright, violate export controls, or circumvent technical protection measures on copyrighted content.
You are solely responsible for the files you convert and for what you do with the output. Because we never see the files, we cannot and do not police their content — that responsibility is entirely yours.
Your content stays yours
We claim no ownership of, rights to, or licenses in any file you process with the FormatFixer tools. Because file data never leaves your browser, there is simply nothing for us to own. The converted output is yours to keep, share, sell, modify, or delete — exactly as you would any file you created yourself.
Disclaimer of warranties
FormatFixer is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that the converted output will meet your requirements.
File format conversion is inherently lossy in some cases (for example, ASS subtitle styling cannot be preserved in SRT; recurrence rules in ICS don't round-trip through CSV). We document the expected behavior on each converter page, but we do not guarantee perfect fidelity.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FormatFixer and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the service — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or corruption of input or output files.
Before converting an important file, keep the original. The site is free and the tools are functional, but they are not a substitute for a backup.
Third-party services
Pages on FormatFixer display ads served by Google AdSense and load some resources from third-party CDNs (Google Fonts, unpkg for the ffmpeg WebAssembly engine). Your use of those resources is also governed by the third parties' terms. We don't control the ads served or the operation of those CDNs.
Termination
There is no account to terminate. You can stop using FormatFixer at any time by simply closing the tab. We reserve the right to discontinue the service, individual converters, or specific pages at any time, with or without notice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which FormatFixer is operated. Any disputes that cannot be resolved amicably via email will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction.
